We ran to the hospital, got admission paperwork done, signed consent. I started crying thinking of the donor family signing a different consent form. Many prayers for that sweet family. We are back at the RMH eating dinner and waiting until 7:30pm when Owen's room will be ready. The plan is to start IVIG, pick up Daddy at the airport and get a little rest while the medical teams work out all the many details.
The heart is the first organ they match to a recipient and the last organ to be harvested. The entire process is complex... organizing ORs, surgical teams from other hospitals to go and harvest different organs, anesthesia, ect.
I'm thinking things won't get moving until early morning... West Coast time. I'll be updating as I hear anything. :)

Praying everything goes smoothly and for the other families too.
Been watching quietly for awhile, but I will be thinking about you and praying for you all night. Good luck.
Praying, praying, praying....
You won't be getting any sleep tonight. Hugs to you.
Praying for everyone.
Andrea!! Oh my goodness! A new super hero heart for Owen!! Our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and the donor's family. Praying and lots of love!!
Breaks my heart thinking about Owen being so excited thinking he will be handed a new heart, unknowing how hard it really will be. Prayers are needed for this little guy as he travels a very difficult road.
We give thanks for the medical science
That allows us to remove organs from one person
And implant them into another,
Renewing life for the critically ill.
Bless all those who dedicate their lives to this sacred task.
Grant strength and fortitude to the scientists and researchers,
Surgeons, nurses and clinicians,
Administrators and other professionals
Whose efforts give life.
May the work of their hands never falter.
Shine Your light on those who,
Still living, give so freely of themselves.
Grant them health, prosperity and long life.
Remember those who have given of themselves in death,
Providing vital organs to those on the edge of life.
May this final act of charity and love
Be a testimony to their lives.
Grant their families comfort, consolation and peace.
Blessed are You, G-d of miracles,
Who heals, blesses and sustains life.
So wonderful. Amen.
