Family Album Project

We have had another great week.  Owen started feeding therapy yesterday to start the process of learning to swallow pills.  He's going to be on a lifetime of medications and medicine taking is going to be a skill he needs to acquire.  He started with tiny sprinkles and he could not get them off his tongue.. after each drink of water to wash it down, he would pretend to swallow and then stick his tongue out to show us a little sprinkle still sitting on his tongue. We moved up to larger sprinkles that dissolve and it was the same story, only his sprinkles kept falling into his cup of water.  He'll get there and he had a great time with his OT.  We also got on the books for his physical therapy eval next week and we'll be starting speech again soon.  So fun for Mr Owen!

Kam has kept us busy with school shopping and lots of playing outside. We found a mall yesterday and went into about five stores, but had such a hard time finding modest clothes. Tomorrow we are heading south to another mall with totally different stores and I think we'll have more luck.  Either way, hanging out and shopping with Sis is always a good time!

Every other Thursday, a group of volunteers comes to the RMH to take professional photos of all the families/children in the RMH house. They call it The Family Album Project and we missed out two weeks ago on the sign up, so I figured we would try again while Sis was here.  Kam humored us and jumped in for a few shots... but Owen was eating up the attention. 

I think they turned out really cute.  I told him he can do the mobster hat/costume/gun next time.  He could have gone on all night.  We had a visit from another heart friend last night, Cemaia.  We saw Chase last week too.  It's so great to be local because everyone travels to LPCH for care and they stop in to see us. It's always nice to see familiar faces and some we have never met in person before. 

Owen has discovered his love of McDonald Happy Meal toys.. awesome.  Someone at the house told him if he shows his lanyard to the local McDonald's they will give him a free kids meal, which equates to a free toy.  Nevermind the food, he won't touch it.  So I have utilized the free kids meal pass at the mall and just ask for apples, drink and toy.  :)  He loves this special treat but I told him it's limited to once a week. 

Today is Friday... relax, laundry, vacuum, groceries, and disco bunco night!
