We finally came back to see Owen last night around 9pm. He is doing great considering. Look at these pink feet.
And 100% oxygen saturations!!
This is my sweet boy last night and this morning. We went back to the RMH to get some rest and Daddy came back around 2am just as Owen opened his eyes and woke up. Owen smiled big when Daddy told him he got his new heart, but he pointed at the tube and he can't talk. Darn intubation tube.
This was the five of us waiting to come back to the CVICU. We were getting a little goofy at this point.
Owen had a great night... no issues. He is resting and the sedation is wearing off. He has been opening his eyes and communicating all morning with his hands. He HATES the breathing tube and keeps asking for water, only you can't hear him talk because the tube is down his throat. The plan, if things go well, is to extubate today. He is being such a sweet boy giving thumbs up to the docs and responding if I ask if he's in pain, ect. Things are moving along nicely.
I will update in a bit. Right now, I'm just sitting bedside keeping my boy calm.

Ah yes - pink toenails and sats of 100 are surely a sight to behold! You have been in our thoughts and prayers constantly. So thrilled that all is going so smoothly and that Owen is being such a superhero (but we all knew he would be!) Hope he gets off the vent really soon. Lots of love to you all xxx
Andrea - I'm so happy for Owen and your entire family. I remember Owen from the Big Give and have been following your blog since then. He is a real life super hero in my books!

I heard from Gabe Ferrin my son-in-law that Owen received a heart this morning. What great news that was! Your family are in our prayers as I am sure they are in hundreds of others.
