Well we have been busy enjoying our fall... just kidding.. it's still 100 degrees in the desert.
I did buy a new fall candle, baked some pumpkin bread and we visited the craft store looking for Halloween décor. None of our efforts are making it feel more Fall around here. This heat has got to go! I'm hoping a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth will be just the thing to kick off our fall!
We are in our 8th week of school and the kids are having the best year! Only one more full week until Fall Break and then it's homecoming week at the High School. Kam and her friends are wanting to go to the dance and finding a modest dress is not easy. Owen is making a ton of friends, still has a mad crush on Payton, and is kicking butt in everything but writing. His handwriting is pretty scary at this point! His aide has been busy disinfecting the classroom and reminding Owen to wear his mask when another kid is coughing around him. SO far, his 1st grade class has been super healthy!!
Speaking of healthy... Owen got his FLU shot yesterday and he was not thrilled. The rest of us have a date at Costco to get ours this week. Owen is immune compromised due to all his transplant meds and we will have a newborn in (about) 92 days... so only come around us if you are healthy! Also, if you choose the Flu mist over the shot.. please don't come around Owen for at least two weeks because it is a live virus. Thanks for helping us stay healthy this winter!
Happy Fall!!!

Thursday Tidbits
I am so ready for fall. We started this week off with a massive rain storm that wreaked havoc in the desert.. schools were closed.. for rain! By Tue morning the desert soaked up all the water and we were back in business. Owen and Kam are both loving school! Kam has tons of homework every single night and her grades reflect it! Owen is still crushing on Payton and said "Mom...I finally did it...I told Payton at recess that I have a girl crush on her. She said nothing. She just ate her apple cause she was hungry. Then she ran off and I chased her." He is something else!
I posted a pic in progress in the last post, but Kam finished her tshirt design for the Japan club. She is pretty incredible with art. Owen keeps bringing home these math assignments where it says "illustrate the word problem and solve using a number bond." I know.. totally foreign to me too. I usually help him doodle some stick figures and call it good... Kam drew tiny little ninjas with ninja stars yesterday for him. Now she set a new standard for his math homework... guess who is helping Owen with math from now on?
Owen lost his 7th tooth this week. He convinced Daddy to pull it out even though it totally needed some more time and wiggling. He just wanted the tooth fairy money so he could buy another lego set. No pain, no gain. We also finally made it out of the door on time by Wed so Owen could get labs. He was sitting in the front seat of my car, while in the parking lot at the lab, trying to convince me why we should just wait until Friday for labs instead. He used some mad negotiating skills, but I eventually won and we got the blood.
C is slammed at work! I am busy planning our next trip to Stanford for Owen's annual biopsy, a trip to Disney in a couple weeks and looking for houses! Today I had a quick unplanned trip to the OB because baby #3 has just not been moving much this week. A quick ultrasound had us all at ease and he is doing great. I'm totally paranoid this pregnancy... can't even bring myself to buy the baby anything yet. We have nothing for this little guy as I got rid of everything a few years after Owen. I think it's time for a shopping spree for baby 3 soon! Oh and a name. :) Only 15 weeks to go!!

Getting it Done
We had the best long weekend... productive, not relaxing! We did a lot of work around the house getting ready for the real estate agent to list the property as well as getting prepped to move. I finally finished Owen's room and he loves sleeping in here!!
Kam spent a ton of time helping out and she figured out how to use the Bamboo tablet her uncle gave her years ago. She has been drawing on the computer ever since! She is working on a design to submit for the Japan club tshirts this year. Her art skills are pretty incredible.
This was all done free hand on this little black tablet. No reference, no tracing, just drew from memory and designed it all. Now she is working on shading and coloring. She has skills!
Owen was thrilled to be back at school after the long weekend. His aide has been out the past two weeks so I helped out in his class this week a little. It is so fun to hang out with his classmates and watch him interact with his peers. At first I thought having a 1 on 1 aide was overkill... but not having his aide there, I realize how much she is needed. ;) The first day I picked up Owen sans aide, he told me to hold on "I drew this awesome picture for Payton and I have to give it to her." I flipped it over and saw that instead of working on his assignment, he spent his time drawing a picture on the back of his work for Payton. Kam had a Sprinkles cupcake this weekend with a giant heart candy on it. "I was trying to draw that kind of heart on a picture for Payton, but I didn't know how to draw it." So instead he saved that sprinkle all weekend and gave it to her yesterday. She pulled it out of her pocket to show me and just smiled. I told her she probably doesn't want to eat it. :)
I volunteered in Owen's class yesterday and the kids did their work stations. The little girl that Owen was paired with reminded me so much of Kam. Such a perfectionist and so focused! She even got Owen's little water cup and paint for their art station. She was so sweet. Owen was bummed that we didn't stay for lunch, so I made it up to him by bringing Subway and staying for lunch today.
We played at recess before lunch and I ate in the lunch room with Owen and his friends. Helped Payton when she spilled her chocolate milk, listened to all the boys tell me about their weapon collections and then watched them throw away the majority of their lunches. Owen was smiling ear to ear and had everyone laughing around him. It seriously made me happy to see how well he gets along with his classmates and they were a fun lunch bunch! They all invited me back to eat with them tomorrow.. Owen begged "just one more day?? Will you come eat with us one more day?" How can I say no to that? If you haven't taken the time to join your little ones for lunch at school yet.. I encourage you to.. just once this year!!!
Owen had a dentist appointment after school and he remains cavity free!! How he avoided getting a single cavity with his heart condition is beyond me. It did take a full hour to do a quick cleaning because he kept talking and talking and talking....
I guess since I'm bragging on my kids.. this little muffin is cooking quickly. I'm 24 weeks pregnant today and that means we only have 16 weeks until baby comes. That also means we only have 16 weeks until Christmas!! EEK!
I'm pretty sure that wraps up our weekend! I hope you all had a great holiday weekend and the week is already half over.
