Exploring Palo Alto

We have been exploring our new home.  On Saturday night, while face timing Daddy and Sis, we heard booms coming from outside.  We looked out our window to watch an entire firework show over the Stanford Stadium.  Owen was in heaven as we watched the firework show from our open window.
The first thing Owen wanted to do the next morning was paint a picture of the firework show.
Here it is.  I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that he has my artistic talents.  At least he tries.  I also love that he signs his name at the bottom of his artwork.  So sweet.

Sunday was a day to catch up on laundry and rest.  We had not only brunch brought in from a local church, but dinner was provided from the PA Fire Dept.  They decorated the entire dining room with balloons and luau decorations.  We made some new friends and Owen had fun playing out back in the grass.  He tries to keep up with his friends, but he just can't do much physically.

Today was another relaxing morning.  We ventured out to explore Palo Alto a little.  We had never walked down University drive.  There are a bunch of little restaurants and shops on this tree lined street.  We ate greek salad and had a slice of pizza at Pizza My Heart.. Owen gave their crispy, chewy crust two thumbs up!  It was so cute when he says "Mom, you are the best date, I love this.  Sitting here with you, eating a good pizza, talking, drinking this drink, it's so nice."
We found a super fun candy and soda shop.  They have so many fun candies that I ate when I was a little kid and even some fun toys that we used to play with.  I had to take this picture of the Pocky wall for Kam.. she loves Pocky and the rest of us think it's so gross.  I'm sure this store will be a hit with Sis.

We saw a crowd lined up by a new ice cream shop called Cream.  You get to pick your cookie(s), pick your ice cream and they make it into a delicious sandwich (warm cookie, cold ice cream), all for $2.50!!  It was fantastic!!
After we walked the street a few times to burn off the calories from our pizza and ice cream, we headed back to our car.  Not before exploring this cool statue.  It's a giant egg shaped statue made out of old computer parts and mother boards.  Owen wanted to know what each part was.. as if I would know.  I just made it up as he asked and that was enough to impress him.
We arrived back at the RMH to meet Music Don.  He was playing the guitar and singing songs.  There was only one other little girl there and a couple adults.  So we stopped and Owen played some music with him.  Owen loved it.  I can't say enough good things about the volunteers at the RMH.  It's amazing!  Owen gets so excited about each volunteer and loves to talk to everyone.  He has been making friends and having a great time at our home away from home.
That is all we've been up to. We have a super fun extended weekend planned for the 4th. We are also praying and hoping and wishing that a heart will come soon.
