Another busy day in Palo Alto. Owen had an early appointment to have his PICC line dressing changed at the hospital.
He was tough and only teared up a little bit, but he is definitely getting used to the dressing changes. We then headed to cardiology for a clinic visit and he looks stable enough. It was lunch time by the time we were leaving the hospital and Owen really wanted soup in the cafeteria... chicken gumbo okra soup anyone? Owen loved it.
We came back to the RMH for a short rest and then headed downstairs to send some faxes. A man dressed as a clown was checking out and of course stopped to say hi to Owen. Owen got his own personal magic show from the clown and he was really cool! He gave Owen a clown nose and also gave me his cell so I can call for him to come entertain Owen anytime he is inpatient and needs some cheering up.
When we were wrapping it up in the front office, the volunteers were coming in to cook dinner. Owen was smitten with the ladies and insisted on helping them cook. They gave him a big bowl of cilantro to peel off the stems and that made him one happy boy. The taco salads were fantastic.
We headed outside for a little walk around and found the classic Ronald McDonald statue. I promise you that Owen wears shoes sometimes.
We sat on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful weather while we waited for Bingo to start. It's BINGO night at RMH!
Owen waited all day for "this contest" to begin. He got a BINGO pretty quick and of all the cool gift cards and legos, he picked a dump truck. The kids had such a great time and it was fun to see so many families out having fun.
Owen's dump truck was a hit in our room for a whole 15 minutes until Owen was wiped from our busy day.
It was another great day and tomorrow we will finally be reunited with Daddy and Sis. We have been here for three weeks now. In some ways, time has flown by, in others it feel like forever.

My son would have picked the same thing!
Owen really is a superhero! What a delight to read about his enthusiasm for life!
Glad to read you are having a better time there. Aren't those RMH volunteers amazing?!
