Today was a better day than yesterday.
Owen slept well last night but the fevers were relentless. We switched up his antibiotics from Cefapime to Meropenem and he is still on Vancomycin. Most of the day he feels pretty good considering. He watches movies, talked to his sibling on Facetime and we just hang out. Then the fever starts to spike about an hour before his IV Tylenol is due. He asks for the entire room to be dark, he closes his eyes and we surrounded him in ice packs. He feels miserable and his HR spikes to 190... fevers around 103.5. Then the Tylenol kicks in, HR decreases back to norm and he is up ready to party again.
Today we cultured his poop, swabbed his nose, and sent off blood samples looking at every virus imaginable (just as a precaution to cover everything). Meanwhile, the cultures we sent came back negative, aside from the secretions from his chest mucus which are still growing a bacteria (something or other). Prayers that these antibiotics kick butt and he can get some relief.
From a cardiac standpoint, he is down to .03 on his Epi and 5 on his Dopamine. IV Lasix is pulling the fluid off and he's got perfect fluid balance. He is still critical but I am feeling a bit more relaxed each day that passes. I can't believe we flew here 13 days ago... time flies by.
Tomorrow our ward is fasting for Owen so if you'd like to join in Fast and Prayer... we would appreciate it. Prayers for fevers to cease, infection to leave and that a family will say YES to Organ Donation.
We love that we can facetime family anytime we want. Owen even gave us some smirky grins today.
I know I've talked about my closet sleeproom.. so here is a photo. It's actually quiet cozy and I am so tired at the end of each day that I am out when my head hits the pillow.
Tomorrow is a new day...

Tomorrow will be a wonderful day, full of new information on how to best help Owen, Thats my prayer for your guys
Kamryn is so your little MINI me, each year she grows into such a beautiful woman. We'll be fasting and praying for your sweet little dude!
Andrea, though I don't know you personally as a family we pray for Owen daily, his doctors and your beautiful family. My heart just breaks for each of you. We will be fasting tomorrow as well. I find myself praying for the next update each day, and hoping it is the news your mothers heart needs to hear. My our sweet Lord continue to buoy you up.
My son had fevers and terrible diarrhea from vancomycin. Sensitive little skinned people tend to be hit the hardest.. Did they do a urine culture if he had a Foley catheter? Don't mind me, just being an old backseat driver, worrywart from the sidelines ;( .....
