Dance Recitals

The past weekend was a whirlwind. Dress rehearsals for dance all day on Friday, followed by a busy day of dance recitals. The girls showed up at 9:30 to practice the opening number on stage before the 11am show started.  I drove back and forth from our house to the Performing Art center and for forgotten items and to pick up/drop off Owen.

The girls purchased tshirts and had to cut them up and decorate them any way they wanted for the opening number.  They also bought fiber optic tutus. A fashion designer I am not, so cutting up Kam's tshirt for over an hour on Friday afternoon had me so frustrated.  We finally got it cut up and knotted to make it work.  She liked it, so that's all that matters.  Oy.  I never want to cut up another shirt again.
Gigi and Kam both had several dances in the 11am show, but I was so sweaty and exhausted from running back and forth to the dressing room that I didn't take a single picture.  The girls did great though! :)  We ran home real quick, picked up Owen and Daddy, and headed out to lunch.  It was a quick bite because we had to be backstage for the next show by 2:30pm.

Again, the opening number was awesome.  Liv had her second dance recital and did so great on stage.  She never looks at the teacher and doesn't miss a beat.  She has mad dance skillz.
Lucy was a couple numbers later and this was her first time on stage.  I think she loved it!  She smiled the whole time and looked like she loved it!
Kam rocked her Hip Hop dance.  It was fun having the girls dance with the boys and it was a cool warrior piece.  Super cool!
These pictures are more blurry because they didn't stop moving and I wasn't supposed to have my camera in the auditorium.  So I had to sneak some pics quickly.
I didn't get pictures of either girl's ballet dances or tap.   This was one of Kam's jazz numbers.
Owen sat in the front row with Grammy K and Daddy while I ran back and forth to the dressing room.  Nana, Gma Monica and Gpa Todd, my parents, uncle Rog and my Sister's whole fam was there.  It was really fun.  I felt bad we didn't have time to take too many pictures or visit after the show.  We only had 30 min to race home, eat dinner and get back for the third show of the night.

Lucy's mama brought her flowers.. she looks so pretty here.
Kam and her Lulu.  Liv was totally done with everything after recital so I didn't get any pics.  She was tired.
Owen's courtesy grin.  He played his iPad through the 3pm show, but really wanted to come back to the 7pm.  He loved it.
Here's Gigi at the night show opener.  She was all over the place backstage and in the lobby with her friends.  Lil Miss Independent.
At the last show, it was the ALLSTAR show which was mostly full of competition dances.  Gigi's ChaCha crew.
Kam's Jet Set number.  We joked that after this show we can burn the costumes.  We were so tired at the end of the night!  I pulled in the garage at 9:30pm and we all took showers/baths because we were filthy and sweaty.  It was our first HOT day in the desert and it was just the beginning.
All the girls did great.  Kam has progressed so much this year in dance.  Next week is the auditions for next years company.   Just like that, we close the book on one year and start the next.  We just added more costumes to Kam's closet and someday I'll get rid of them.  I love looking at her tiny ballet costume from her first recital when she was 3.

I'm proud of my nieces and Kam for working hard and doing what they love!  Lots of luck on auditions this week girls!

These are such great pics - you're such a fantastic mom to encourage Cam to do dance! Looks like she's a natural. :-)
