Eight Teeth Pulled!!

This morning started as a routine, six month, dental checkup for both kids! I am so glad they call the day before with a reminder or I would have totally spaced it. We started with the orthodontist, who also has an office with the dentist. It's nice that they work together! Dr M. took a look at Kamryn's teeth and said "we should have pulled these last time." Ha. I told him so.

She has a ton of baby teeth that have not fallen out, or that are even loose. Her permanent teeth are coming in all over the place, but the baby teeth won't get the hint that it's time to evict. Their time is up! There were too bottom teeth (the fourth ones from the front) that were pink, dead and lifeless. The orthodontist (assistant) pulled those out without numbing and they just crumbled. Kamryn had no idea that they did anything. She was talking the whole time and then all of a sudden had gauze in her mouth.
She rinsed and rinsed, obviously avoiding going back in the chair.
.
Then it was time to get stuffed with more gauze. Doesn't she look thrilled?!
Then the Orthodontist reviewed her xray and decided the top six teeth need to come out today as well. If you can tell in the xray.. there are a ton of permanent teeth just waiting to push their way into place. He ran over to chat with the dentist about pulling those today and then we scheduled an appointment to go back in four weeks. Braces perhaps? We will see!! If not.. braces will be on by the end of the year!! She is SO excited for braces, as are we!! She is going to look so adorable with braces!!
She went back to start her six month cleaning and to get a newer xray for the dentist. While she was busy with that.. Owen and I headed back for his teeth cleaning. Owen LOVES the dentist! Our regular dentist wasn't there, so we saw his partner today. It wasn't the same, but he was great with Owen too. We looked around his teeth and he is cavity free! His teeth look great and we are so grateful for all those big spaces between teeth. He was excited to get his toothbrush and token for a prize!!
We met Kamryn in another room and she was cavity free as well!! My kids are amazing brushers and they got great genetics (from Daddy). Kamryn decided against the laughing gas and went straight for the numbing. Tough girl. She has never been numbed up before and she was not thrilled with the feeling. They numbed her up good and started pulling. She screamed, but couldn't feel it. I think it was the weird feeling of someone putting pliers in your mouth and yanking. I had the same teeth issues she does and I remember it like it was yesterday. I sat with her and held her hand and watched as the dentist pulled one tooth after another. Poor girl. My heart just sank in my chest and I started crying. She was done in minutes and it was time to go. Lots of gauze later...
Kamryn is happy to be home. She was thrilled when I told her we were ditching school today!! She is in bed reading and I just gave her Advil to help with the pain before the novicane wears off. She is going to be a sore for a few days and her smile is going to be awesome. She is going to have two front teeth and then back teeth.. the six teeth on either side of her two front teeth are now gone.

The dentist gave her this pink tooth filled with EIGHT baby teeth!!  The tooth fairy is going to offer a fair trade this evening.. maybe she'll even throw in a few dollars for pain and suffering.
Praying my tough girl heals up beautifully. She will have braces before we know it and she will thank us one day for all the torture. I had braces from 5th to 8th grade, so I'm kinda counting on a 2 -3 yr plan for her as well. That would mean she will have a perfect smile before High School. I personally think her smile is perfect now.. but it will be even better!!

I have to give a shout out to Owen for being the best little bro today. He kept saying "You okay Sis? Everything is okay. It's not so bad. I love you! Everything is alright" I wonder where he heard all of that before?! He keeps running her room to check on her and to see if she needs anything. So sweet.

What a bummer about having so many teeth pulled when she didn't expect it. Kamryn, you are beautiful!! It is just a step in making you even more glamorous. You will feel better soon. Lexi had multiple teeth pulled like that - but not in one visit; we had them spaced out in 3 visits. Impressive that you had it done all at once. Can I say, that when I move back up to the Phx area in about a month - we need to hook back up. I have just grown to love you more and more and I keep reading over everything your family goes through. We need to make a sisters night with you and Kelli and my sister - just like the old times!!!

Awww Kamrym, what a day, huh?
One good thing is, you didn't have much time to think about it before all those pesky teeth were gone. :) What a relief to be rid of them!
The others will be in within weeks and you will be eating everything with ease.
My sister used to pull my teeth in my sleep because they were growing on top of each other and I refused to eat Corn on the cob. ha!
All those teeth just wanted to stick around because you are so lovable. {{{{{big hugs}}}}} to the best big sis.
