Big Give!!

Back in March of this year, I joined the DisBoards and created a pre-trip report for Owen's Make A Wish trip. I knew nothing about Disneyworld, and when I say nothing, I mean that I had no idea there were FOUR parks to the World! I had so much fun staying up late at night reading previous Make A Wish trippers' trip reports. I am emotional, so I cried when I read their stories of why they qualified for a Make A Wish trip. I read about their trip planning and where they made dining reservations. Some families extend their trip, some barely make it through the 7 day trip. I have learned so much about Give Kids the World, which is the wish trippers village that is so incredible!! We cannot wait for our trip and I am so excited to have 10 days with my family!!!

Something I didn't know when I signed up, was how many amazing people I would meet! Not only do you get to know the other Make A Wish families, but there is an incredible group of Women (and Men) that have created The Big Give! It was originally inspired by Oprah's Big Give, only I think it's way cooler! They pick a family and basically spoil them in the weeks leading up to their trip. Guess who was chosen?! Ok.. we were!! I am so excited that my kids are going to be showered with LOVE over the next month.. you are going to be awestruck when you see how amazing this group of people are. We are so humbled by their generosity and I cannot wait to join their "club" when we get back from our trip! My kids are already picking out things to make and purchase for other kiddos!!

Today was the perfect day to receive our first package!! Kamryn had a ROUGH morning as you can read in the post below. She had EIGHT teeth pulled and six of them were baby teeth on the top. If that weren't bad enough.. when the Novocaine wore off.. she came to me crying so hard she was laughing.. "I LOOK LIKE A RABBIT!!" She only has those two top crooked teeth and the ones surrounding it are GONE! We had a good long laugh and I told her that she has to laugh about it or else she will go crazy. I love that she has such great self esteem that she can laugh at it. This is just one step closer to getting braces. Her permanent teeth are already coming in and were pushing those babies out of the way. Hopefully, they will drop in fast and we can put braces on soon.
Back to the package... I ran to the mailbox and was so excited to see the kids got MICKEY MAIL!! Thanks to DisName: Mommy2mrb!

Both kids though the Mickey card was really sweet.

Owen let Kamryn open her package first.. I think he had no idea what to expect. I'm pretty sure he isn't going to be so generous next time now that he knows what to expect.

While Sis was opening her gift.. Owen was being a ham and said "Tate a piture of the tard Mom.. did you det it? Let me see!"

Kamryn loved every single thing in her packages. She got a new Tinkerbell lanyard, word search, Tink pen, glow bracelets, chocolate money, stickers, a makeup bag with lipgloss and a tink compact mirror, pedicure set, tink paperclips (adorable), bookmark doodles, a tink watch, and a water bottle. Whew.

It was Owen's turn to tear into his package and we didn't have to ask him twice. Owen got a coloring book, crayons, cars bandaids (which he thought were so awesome), a cars watch, a plane, chocolate money, card game, cars lanyard for his pins, stickers, silly putty, glow bracelets, a buzz pen, a water bottle, and some Cars that he didn't have yet!! Way to pick them out!!

Owen loves his Harmonica!! He can't blow hard enough to make sounds, so he just makes the sound and pretends to blow. Awesome!

Both kids got very generous gift cards that they can't wait to spend at Disneyworld!!

4 There were luggage tags for all of us!! This is so perfect because I do not pack light and we each take a GIANT suitcase each. Carson's is never full, so he gets the souvineers to pack on the way home. Now we all have our own luggage tags! Thanks!!

Carson was at work when we got the package and I told him we would wait... but I lied!! After Kamryn and I got done cracking jokes about her teeth and laughing so hard we cried.. I thought there was NO way we could wait three hours for daddy. I promise we will wait in the future. It felt like Christmas without him.

My kids have been playing with everything... I'm pretty sure I just put Owen's watch on for the 100th time! We can't wait to see what comes in the upcoming weeks!

Wow I had no idea that make a wish did a "big give"! How awesome !

Jennah.. Make a Wish doesn't do the Big Give! It's a seperate group of people that created a group several years ago. They just pick a family to "gift". It's just random. :)

Awesome! I would love to donate to this Big give project! Where do I sign up? How much are the giftcards for? I would like to get some to donate.

Krista. The Big Give is through the disboards. http://disboards.com

They are called DisBoutiquers. If you search for that, you will find their links toward The Big Give.

A lot of the people sew and make the cutest clothes.. autograph books.. scrapbooks.. "Pixie Dust". We are going to sign up after Owen's wish and Kam is so excited to start making things.

I am so excited for you guys Andrea...

You will have the BEST time EVER!

Our family grew up going to Disney World...you'll stay there for 10 days and still might not see everything. It's MY MOST favorite place on earth!

I love the "big give" group idea. I'll have to check into that...how fun!
