Thank you for all the advice on constipation relief (that sounds gross). I actually put a few ounces of prune juice in with his night feed so it dripped slowly while he slept. I don't know why I didn't think of this before?! Usually I give him prune juice in a bolus feed and maybe it was irritating his tummy more, where the night drip is continuous and feeds him over several hours. Whatever... it worked.
Owen had his speech evaluation today and, of course, was Mr. Social at his best. It's always hard to hear those developmental questions.. "does he turn around and look for you when you say where's mommy?" Nope. "Does he initiate play, like bringing books over to you to read to him?" Nope. Nope. No again. I know he'll catch up, but it breaks my heart to know that he has to work so hard to do simple things, like talking, eating, playing. I hope that with a new, whole heart, he'll finally start to thrive.
I didn't take any pictures today because we were busy playing with our happy guy for the first time this week. Here's a picture I took last year on July 15th.

WONDERFUL news! Very thankful that Owen is no longer suffering from constipation and is a happier little boy. Praying for a new heart so that Owen can get back reach all those milestones!
SO glad Mr. O is feeling happy again.
I know Mom is too.
such relief in more ways than one ;0)
Glad to see he's feeling better. Hope it all keeps working out so well.
I'm so happy to hear that Owen is back to his happy self!! :) and not constipated!
I love the picture of him from last year...such an adorable babe!
Yea, yea, yea! I'm so glad to read Owen's feeling better today! Question for you: At what point does Stanford want to tackle the antibodies issue again? Is the process first to get the heart failure stabilized and then treat the sensitized antibodies? At what point will they list Owen?
Heart hugs to you all! What a great day!
Hi Andrea, Thank you for the sweet note and prayers...it really means a lot during this scary time.
Your children are just beautiful...And Owen looks like a very strong boy! I am very familiar with HLHS, I am a pediatric nurse on a Cardiac floor and I take care of little ones with HLHS on a daily basis...I started to read your blog and wanted you to know that it looks like you are doing an AMAZING job...Owen looks very happy:) Anyways, thanks for the prayers, and I will be keeping your little one in mine.
To all Owen's followers....OWEN would not be here today if 1) God did not mke the impossible happen, and 2) He chose Andrea as his Mom because she is more than exceptional...she can do anything!
Mom
Go beautiful boy (and beautiful mommy, daddy, and big sis too!).

Oh, Andrea - I am sooooo glad to hear that he is feeling better today. I have thought of you often over the last couple of days praying that you would have strength in addition to him feeling better. Just want you to know that I am thinking of you!! Take care! Trish

Andrea you guys are amazing! I totally get when you say you just want him to thrive! Bela's been sick way more than healthy and it just sucks.. But Mr. Owen has had so much thrown his way. I can't help but be in love with him, even though I've never met him. He's nothing short of incredible for what he goes thru. I can't wait for him to have energy and be able to play without tireing.. I'm sure that's all u want too..
Any news on the lame-o's over at DDD?
So glad he is feeling better. He sure is cute in that picture.. so is big sis!!
