It's 11pm and Owen is now sating in the high 90's on very little oxygen (totally NOT normal, and he shouldn't go above 85). Hmmmmm... another mystery. He's usually at 78 - 82 percent on 1/2 liter of oxygen, that's his norm. Why is he showing sats at 97 right now on 1/4 liter. I'm at a loss. When I test the oximeter on myself, it's accurate. It's also consistent on all four of Owen's extremities. I'm torn.
I should get some rest, it's been a LONG night. I'll continue to monitor his sats the remainder of the weekend and will call cardiology on Monday to give the heads up on his wacky oxygen saturations. I absolutely will not feel comfortable having him put under anesthesia on Wednesday (for the Gtube surgery) is he is even the slightest bit unstable. It's just simply not worth the risk. Of course, I trust our Cardiologist and I will allow him to make that decision.

Original Post.
Owen's lips have looked a little blue tonight, so I grabbed his "beep beep" (oximeter) and his oxygen sats were at 52 percent. YIKES! Thirty minutes later, and 2 liters of oxygen, he's still only at 80 percent and every few minutes is dropping into the 60 range.
He's not cranky, excessively tired, or congested. I checked his NG placement and his lungs sound clear, so there's no worry of aspiration. Hmmmm... why the mystery??
Say a little prayer that this is just a little scare so that he gets to wear his light up toe tonight. For those of you that have NO idea what this is...

Wow! 52 is scary!! The night we were life flighted back Mia's sats were 42- and the machine was beeping like crazy. Now when we turn it on it is never under 99%. It's crazy what a functioning little heart will do.
83 is much better Mr. Owen! I like the light up toe! My kids like to check their heart rates too- it's a "fancy" toy.
Oh wow, that is so scary!! You are such a strong mommy.. and Owen is such a strong little boy. Please keep us posted. Praying for Mr. Owen tonight!!!
No, no Mr Owen. We do not like to see 52. Your mom has enough to worry about with your upcoming G-tube surgery and everything else going on to add any extra visits to the hospital. Lots of prayers that he gets better soon and that it's no big deal.
how scary. Praying for the little man!!
Oh my goodness...prayers are definatly coming your way for Mr. Owen! Hope you guys have a beebless night!

Yikes! 52 is scary! I'm glad it's up! I'll say an extra prayer that it's jut a temporary thing! hang in there!
Sounds like a wacky machine to me if little Mr. O is feeling fine.
I bet he will be good as new in the morning, but I will say my prayers for your little sweetheart for added protection.
Sleep tight mommy, God is watching over him.
Owen is in my thoughts and prayers.
Ooh - we don't want 52s! (Although 97s are a bit perturbing too!) Glad his sats have levelled out a bit now, and hoping that everything stabilises before his surgery date comes around.
Thinking of you all. X
Oh poor Mr Owen! Praying hard for him, and for you, sweetie!
Cxx
Praying for his sats to even out where he and you are both comfortable. Although the high 90s are great news you still wonder why his are so high if they're never that way any other time.
Hope you all got some rest and he improved...most of all praying they don't go down low again!
Praying SO hard for Mr. Owen and you entire family right now!!!!!! Keep us updated...lots of love, hugs and prayers---Tiff
Oh goodness. I pray that your night was much better and everything is okay. Please keep us posted.
I sure hope Owen stabilizes so he can go through with his Gtube surgery. The 52 sounds scary low!
Just curious, why is it bad for him to be in the high 90's?
Many hugs and prayers! I think he sports the "light up toe" well! Ky... not a fan! LOL Even when sedated she in deathly afraid of it (of all the things...)
