I just spoke with the insurance company and these are the heart transplant facililties that we can go to with 100% coverage!!
University of Alabama Hospital
Children's Hospital Los Angeles
Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford (San Francisco)
University of California Los Angeles
Children's Memorial Hospital (Chicago)
Children's Hospital Boston
The Cleveland Clinic Foundation
Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh
Children's Hospital and Regional MedicalCenter (Seattle)
We are going to be speaking with a care coordinator through the insurance company and also the Phoenix transplant coordinator to educate ourselves and pick the best location. If anyone has any advice, comments or suggestions on a specific facility, we'd love to hear it!!!!

If you choose Standford you can use my house as a home base. We are live a couple hours away, but it isn't a horrible drive.
It sounds like you can't go wrong, I know these hospitals all have good reputations!
If you copy and paste this link:

you can see the US News and World Report's top Children's Cardiac Centers in the Nation...maybe you can check out their transplant info somehow through this??? Of course I'm biased...Seattle Children's SHOULD NOT be
30th...they are much better than that!!! Good luck with all of your research- I'm sure it's stressful having to make this decision. You're in my thoughts! Happy 9 months too Owen! Loved the pictures, great idea :)
Love,
Katie
Ok, I don't know if that worked...you may have to just go to usnews.com and type in top children's hospitals then click on heart surgery for the speciality. You'll get to it somehow!!!
Hi Simmons family, you may or may not remember me but I went to High School with you and I just happened to come across your blog a few months ago and have been following you every since. Your family is amazing and I love to see new updates on Owen. I worked at Stanford U for almost three years. It's a wonderful hospital in a beautiful area. I some friends in that area that I could get you in contact with that would be more than happy to help you with any questions or concerns. The only down fall would be the living expenses in that area. It's a very expensive place with housing, food and just about everything else. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like more information. kristyg1827@yahoo.com
Hey guys it's Brynn... Just wanted to let you know that if you came to Utah, Primary Children's Hospital is AMAZING. We live about fourty five minutes away and you can totally stay with us.. I also know that the Ronald Mcdonald houses are 10 a night and that includes all meals...Kamryn would have tons of kids to play with in our neighborhood and she could totally do home school and stay with me durring the day.. or transition school. which means a couple of months is a school here until you can go home to her school when Owen boy is all better. I also wanted to give you some phone numbers of momma's in our group who have babies with transplants if you are interested in talking to some...I just had a couple of those thoughts...
That's a really tough decision to make and I hope you continue to be filled with peace. I know you'll make the best decision for Owen and your family.
I know from personal experience that Philadelphia Children's is wonderful, but obviously awfully far away from you guys! (You do what you gotta do!)
I've heard wonderful things about Seattle, Chicago, and Stanford.
Good luck!!!!!!!!
Andrea,
I do not have any advice, but I just want to say that I am thinking of you and praying for you and your family as you make this most difficult decision. Like I have mentioned before, you are such an inspiration to me with your never-ending positive attitude.
Happy 9 months to Owen!

Wow...what a decision. My heart lies at MUSC in Charleston but since they aren't on the list I would highly recommend Boston or CHOP (Philly)...I've seen some amazing stories come out of those two. I will be praying extra hard for you as you carefully choose which direction to go.
Happy Happy 9 months to Owen! Thinking of his precious little self yesterday!
Love to you~ Rebecca
Oh- and I LOVE the Owen pumpkin! Those are so cute!
It's too bad none of those hospitals are closer to your home! Sorry! I'm sure any hospital you choose will be a great choice! If your doctors have recommended any of them they must have a good reputation!
I have heard GREAT things about each and every one of these choices... what a blessing to have that many places to pick from. I will pray that Owen gets the best possible care, no matter where he goes! You are in our thoughts and prayers constantly!!!
Lucille Packard of Children's Hospital of Philly but the closer to home the better because you will be living in or near the hospital for a minimum 6 months AFTER transplant plus you need to be able to get to the hospital within 1 hours of a heart becoming available when the time comes.
