CVICU

Owen has had a rough day.  He just hasn't been himself and has slept most of the day away.  I've been worried and nauseated while watching him as if I could make him better by watching him sleep.  His HR has steadily increased and he has looked pale.  PTSD takes over because of his episode in May and his symptoms were very similar.
The team has been taking thing seriously and we moved back down to the CVICU tonight.  Before heading down, Owen spiked a fever and so he has a billion labs and blood cultures sent off.  We had to place a new PIV and he did amazingly well for that.  The initial labs don't seem to show infection and he doesn't have any symptoms.  The CVICU team seems to think the fevers are heart failure related.  We bumped his Milrinone to .5 (double) and we will see how the night goes.  Infection?  Heart failure? Whatever it is...I just pray he feels better!

We started him on IV antibiotics for 48 hrs to cover him in case something bacterial is brewing.  His EKG looks great and his vitals are looking good this evening.  A significant decrease in his HR with Tylenol and antibiotics makes me happy.
I have a sleep room in the CVICU again. He has a good team of cardios on this evening which helps me relax a little. Prayers for sleep.  Prayers for stability.  Prayers for a healing heart.  This journey is not for the weak.
