Growth Spurt

Owen has been so much tired than usual.  He's really winded and his sats are low.  His baseline is around 75% oxygen saturations, but his have been dropping into the 50's at times when he is active.  My initial reaction is to be concerned.

On the flip side, he has more energy than I have ever seen.  This is obviously when he gets winded and his sats decrease.  His appetite is totally increased as well, so I have to question is this a growth spurt?

Owen currently wears a size 5 top and 2T bottoms.  Top heavy much?  Ha.  His pants are starting to becoming floods as of the last few weeks.  The waist of his pants are feeling a bit snug too and as Owen would say "Am I getting fat yet or not?"
Answers to come soon. Owen's cath is in 10 days at Stanford.  I am a total wreck thinking about it, so I just push it out of my mind.  Owen stands firm on "I am not going to get the icky mask or IV's this time Mom."  I told him he has to take that up with the docs.  It's so hard when they understand and remember these procedures.  Ugh.  Deep breath.  Looking forward to the followup trip to the beach after his cath!!

Hi Andrea - just wanted to let you know we're thinking about you lots as Owen's cath approaches. Been there, done that! Sounds like Owen's doing some good growing though - Charlie's legs always lagged well behind his torso pre-Fontan too! He's finally caught up with his age and is in size 8 trousers now (but he's in a 9-10 top!) Take it easy and keep focussing on that fab post-cath beach trip! :-) x

Sending prayers your way for Owen's upcoming cath. It never gets easier anticipating these things does it?

Definitely sounds like a growth spurt. Gotta love when they get to the high water phase.

Lots of prayers your way with Owen's heart cath. Will be thinking about you all during that time. My husband will be at Stanford during that time to see if they can get his kidney function back up or if he'll need to be listed for a heart/kidney transplant.
