The "Plan"

It has been another busy day in the CICU.  Owen had an early morning xray, followed up with labs and an echo.  Today was a day to gather data.  His echo is showing trivial improvement, I didn't get a  full report, but it isn't worse.  His BNP is down to 3000 which indicates severe heart failure, but is a huge improvement over the 20000 BNP he had at admittance.

The "plan" is to try and discharge tomorrow.  It is an ambitious goal, but I am ready for anything.  I took his scripts down to the hospital pharmacy...all 16 of them.  I have his blood pressure machine at home, as well as a pulse ox machine, but I ordered another to see if it is more accurate.  We scheduled followup appointments for transplant clinic as early as Thursday morning with a Monday morning echo.  Owen is not out of the woods and his recovery will be long.  We are unsure if his heart will fully recover and if so, how long it will last.  For now, we just count our blessings and enjoy every day!

I am praying for you guys all the way from Oregon. I am 25 years old and have an LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist device) due to muscular dystrophy attacking my heart. I am not on a transplant right now because I am doing very well. I know how hard it is to have heart failure, especially for your little Owen. Hugs and prayers for you all <3

Your little Owen is such an inspiration. And, truly, your entire family is. I keep you in my thoughts and prayers and wish you all so much health, recovery, healing, and happiness.

Walking out those hospital doors into the daylight and home has to be the best medicine for him.
Prayers for tomorrow!

How exciting but I understand how daunting too. Glad you have clinic apps lined up too. Many hugs and prayers.

Praying for you all as you get to bring Owen home to continue his care. Hope things go smoothly and that he can continue improving outside of the hospital each day. It will feel so good to finally have him home again!

Owen, you are truly a miracle boy. I know you will believe it when you see it, but it is truly incredible to me that they can even mention the "H" word after the wild ride you have all had. We continue to send our love and prayers for his miracle donor heart to give him many more adventures.

Such wonderful news! Hope is a good thing! What can I do to help? Are there things I can do to prepare your home?

This is such wonderful news! You are so brave to take on his care at home, but I know he is in good hands and that your family will be so much more settled to have you home full time. Owen is an amazing heart warrior.
