It was a high of 80 in the desert today and it felt fantastic!! I had a hard time blogging this week as we lost a close heart friend, Mia McDonald, and my heart has been sad. It always so heartbreaking to hear that another little one has gone to heaven. Please keep the McDonald family in your prayers as they lay Mia to rest this weekend.
Since the weather was so beautiful today, we decided to have a PT session outside. Some local school districts are on fall break, so the gymnastics location we normally go to is swarmed with kids camp. The park was fun, but Owen doesn't share my enthusiasm. He usually goes to the park with a bucket and pail to play in the sand and doesn't want anything to do with the equipment. It is intimidating and scary and he isn't a fan. I thought it would be a good challenge today.
Nicole helped Owen climb the stairs...
Then down the slide. It wasn't so bad as long as someone goes with him. He refuses to go down the slide alone. Something about he might fall off and lose his head. :) This is the same boy that throws his hands up on the wildest rollercoasters. Postural Insecurity is what we call it in fancy terms.
He loved the hanging monkey bars.. but I think he is way more comfortable at "gymbtastics".
Before our PT session at the park, Owen had an appointment with his new local cardio team. He will still be followed by Dr Stock, but he doesn't see transplant kiddos. So we will need to be seen by the post transplant team locally and that comes with a cardiologist change :(. We went to meet Dr Jedeiken today and Owen seemed to like him. He called him "bro" on several occasions so I'm guessing he approves.
Next week we are scheduled for his next admit and IVIG infusion at the hospital. Then we will follow that up with an echo a week later. I am doing everything in my power to keep him healthy and strong for the day we get the call for a heart.
Speaking of staying healthy.. tomorrow we all get our Flu Shots! Wish us luck.

Ugh. The flu shot is full of bad things.
I know you have no choice at this point.
It must be extra hard waiting knowing what happened to a little girl his same age with no warning.
Prayers of strength for you and your family.
Grant is the same way at the park! our PT has been working with him on the same stuff. Grant loves roller coasters, but is terrified of the slides and equipment at the park. We checked flu shots off our lists too this week!
Praying that Owen stays healthy so he can get his IVIG treatment!
