Home...

It feels so good to be home. We flew in on Saturday evening and were greeted by a very happy 10 year old who was full of stories!! She had just come home from a trip to the cabin with her cousins and she had a ton of fun!

Our bags are not unpacked. The laundry is not done. My head is spinning with medical information. I need to stop reading up on the risks and benefits to the Fontan and wait for the surgeons to call us in the next couple of weeks. I'm sure speaking with Dr Stock at Owen's appointment next Monday will help me clarify some questions. I need to just let it be and stop stressing.

Speaking of de-stressing... I am planning a trip for fall break right now. We need a family vacation without pokes, needles, hospitals and doctors visits. We are going to lay on the beach, drink fruity drinks, maybe build a small bonfire, splash in the waves, dig in the dirt and eat some yummy Mexican food. I just got an email offer for our hotel on the beach for a deal I can't refuse.

Time if flying by so fast in 2010... we'll be on the beach before we know it.

It's good to be home for now.

Wow Andrea, I cant imagine what you and Carson go through each day. You never cease to maintain your positive outlook. You are incredible! Give that little man a big kiss from me, and knuckles from Tate. They would be good friends :)

You don't know me but I found your blog off of Paul Cardell's blog. Your blog button stood out to me because your little boy's name is Owen. I just gave birth to an Owen 5 weeks ago and he was also born with a CHD. To make this even more bizarre our last name is also Simmons. Crazy! Our Owen is currently recovering from his heart surgery he had last Friday. I know this is weird but I just felt like reaching out to you since our kids have the same name. I am very sorry for what you are going through. Email me and we can chat.

Oh wow Andrea.. so much going on for you! I can't imagine what's going on thru your head.. Constantly no doubt. Hopefully you'll get some input from those docs soon so you can feel good about your options and decision. Owen's amazing.. can't believe how great his cath looked! Thats wonderful news! Wouldn't it be great if he was a candidate for the Fontan, pulled through wonderfully (which he will) and buy 10 more years!?!
So glad a GOOD vacation is in the works.. you all definatley deserve it!

Yes...stop stressing. You have a MOST wonderful team of docs on your side...they'll lead you in the right direction. I think a fall retreat is OH SO perfect for you guys! Enjoy the sun, sand, and fruity drinks!

I am always thinking about you guys, and you're always in my prayers. Enjoy those cutie pie kiddos...the laundry will wait....and I will NOT tell you how long I've let Stanford luggage stay packed and in the corner of my room!

I am new to your blog, but a longtime member of IHH. I just wanted to wish you and your family well. I hope you find plenty of days where you can relax and feel normal. I sometimes get caught up so much trying to stay in the normal group, I loose contact with many of my special heart friends. take Care & God Bless you all.
