"TttEEEzzz"

Say Cheese Owen.... "TttEEEEzzzz"
This little hunk o' love is feeling MUCH better. He still has some gunk in his chest, but it isn't slowing him down. Kamryn is also feeling like her old self. I, on the other hand, caught some nasty strep and feel aweful but don't have time to let it slow me down. Carson is feeling congested, but caught up on some rest this weekend. For the family that never gets sick... I think we're just getting the winter bugs out of the way before winter actually begins.
Owen just celebrated, sick in bed, his 19 Month Birthday! Owen's biggest accomplishment this month has been talking more. His vocabulary is building and he has alot to say. Just last month he would say "ah" and point to what he wanted. We've been working on actually saying the name of the object or at least saying something other than "ah." Now he'll say "eh" (yes), "ni-ni" (night night), "baaafff" (bath), "toot-toot", "choo-choo" (train), "beep-beep" (oximeter probe, yes he asks for this all the time), and many more. We're working on trick-or-treat and it sounds like "Chi-ch-cheee." It's great to hear his little voice more, as soon as he'll talk on video, I'll get it up here.

Owen has also been working on standing more. I'm pretty sure crawling is never going to be on his to-do list. He can't pull to a stand, but if we help him up, he'll stand for a few minutes before his little thighs shake from exertion. Of course, we also need to find a motivator to keep him standing. He has learned that it's very easy to get out of standing.
We got Owen's Gtube surgery scheduled for September 16th at PCH. He'll be admitted to the PICU afterwards and if all goes well, we'll be home the next day. We're excited to get rid of his NG tube, but at the same time, it freaks me out to have him put under anesthesia when he's in heart failure.
We've been working on planning our vacation to California in October, since we have to go to Stanford for a cardiology clinic. If anyone has any great ideas of beaches, aquariums or restaurants to visit, let us know! We're planning to break up the drive a little this time.. 12 hours straight is not fun. We'll start by driving to San Diego, then up through LA and then to San Fransisco and back. We're excited for this much needed vacation!
Hope you had a great weekend!!

Never fear, my son was late to speak, and liked to point and grunt. I have a hint for you. We later found out it was because his big Sister would speak for him and he never needed to speak. He finally began one day and he only needed help with his r's from a speech therapists. (Girls were Ghouls:))
Owen will do everything on his own time, no need to worry if he's a little off schedule and please never compare to other babes or it will drive you nuts. ;)
If you see a "Tomatina" Restaurant near Stanford, you will like the garlic rolls and pizza's. I also like Old Spaghetti Factory for kids and they are everywhere.
So glad everyone is feeling better.
Hope you do too.

Oh he just gets cuter every time I see him! Sorry Kamryn is sick, Hey maybe you will be done now! Glad Owen is feeling better. Oh my heck look at that he is using his legs. That is so awesome. Love it! Praying the G-tube goes great and Owen recovers quickly. It's okay to feel they way you do. It's totally understandable. A good thing one way, but scary the other. I know he will do fine and oh to get rid of the NG tube won't that be wonderful never having to put it in his tender little nose again. I worry so much they are going to say NG for us because Ky bug is SO skinny. We go in the morning for a card appointment so well see. LOL about the WOW thing. Too funny! You should try it out. Really it would give you something to do during hospital stays. I have a lvl 32 named Turpey. We could play together. I just made her on my hubs account. Okay I will stop. I need to just email you and not take up your comments thing.

Hi! I grew up north of San Francisco in the wine country, and we used to go down south quite a bit on vacation. From Los Angeles to San Francisco (Palo Alto) there are two basic highways to get there. Interstate 5 goes up the central valley. It is usually hot and boring, but it is fast. The other way to go is up Hwy 1 on the coast. This is a much slower way, but is great if you are vacationing. There is the Monterey Bay Aguarium in Monterey. Once you hit the Santa Cruz area, there are lots of great places too. One is a beach in Portola (I can't remember the exact name) that my family spent many summers at. There is the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk, which is part amusement park/beach. There is also a wonderful train that goes through the redwoods in the Santa Cruz mountains to the door of the Boardwalk. Further up highway 1, is Half Moon Bay, which has great marshes and wildlife.

Great kids scientific museum in San Francisco is the Exploratorium. Outside is the Palace of Fine Arts, a great park, with ducks, etc. There is also a good teddy bear factory (not the chain) in San Francisco.

A little north, in Fairfield, is the Jelly Belly factory, which is great fun for all ages (free samples). Down the street is a Budweiser plant with free tours (soft drinks for kiddos). Sometimes they have the Clydesdale horses). Also there is this great maze that I get lost in all the time at another place in Fairfield. Sometimes there are air shows at the Travis Air Force base in the area.
Oh, I forgot there is also Pier 39 in San Francisco. Expensive, but has small amusement rides, an aquarium, stores, and street performers. Out on the pier there are lots (hundreds usually) of sea lions, and they are up pretty close to the pier.
Lots of places to eat. One of my favorites is Fresh Choice. It's a buffet of salads, soups, noodles...good healthy stuff. But they also have pizza, ice cream, and deserts to your heart's content. (I'm missing home now!). Anyway, I hope I helped!
Best wishes.

I am glad Owen is doing better. I hope every thing will go all right with the G-tube. Chris, Triston and I went to Lego Land and we also went the Sea Life aquarium (by lego land) It was really fun. I think that he might like San Diego Zoo also. I hope that you get to relax a little!

it has been too long since i caught up on people's blogs! I can't believe how much Owen has grown! Time really does go by so fast.
Im glad that he is doing well. I tried to skim over your recent blogs as well. A G-tube? I hope that is a happy thing for you and not too scary or worrisome!
I admire little Owen and his love for life. The fact that he can always be so happy and have such a big adorable smile, even with sats at 60! Its amazing. What an angel and a blessing he is!
We will pray for you guys hard! That his recovery is quick and goes smoothly!!
