You know that saying.. "Never wake a sleeping baby?"
Last night I didn't listen. Owen hadn't taken a nap all day. After a day full of therapy, flu shots, violin lessons and potty training, Owen crashed at 5:00. At around 7, I couldn't decide if I should wake him up or let him sleep through the night. While Owen isn't a baby any longer, this saying can also be applied to kids. He woke up grouchy, sweaty, and hungry. He cried as I rocked him until he puked all over. Poor guy. Then he decided he wanted dinner and it was then that things turned a little uglier. He realized we had already eaten dinner.. WITHOUT him. Apparently, that is a sore subject with Mister Owen. I warmed up his plate of food and he refused to eat it until Daddy got back from dropping Kam off at dance. He sat at the table and picked at his food for a good 30 minutes until he returned to his "normal" self.
The rest of the night he was sweet as can be until around 11:30 when he shocked to hear it was time for bed.
When in doubt.. never wake a sleeping boy. Never.
We are back to our regular naptime today. Owen drifted off with his nerfgun on his chest and red bulls close by. Before he drifted off he said "Mama.. I love you SOOOO much! Like that much."

Oh he's just so stinkin cute! I always say "don't wake the cranky bear" about Tyson. If he falls asleep on my lap in church, and he wakes up before he's ready, the entire church hears about it. It's quite embarrassing. Hope Owen's doing well, I do read your blog often and you're always in our thoughts and prayers. Take care!
Awww poor guy. He seems like such a good natured kid that I can't even imagine him being grouchy. Poor kiddo. And poor mama! Glad to hear he was back to his usual self today!
Awww, The flu shot takes it toll on little ones immune systems and they need to get their strength back after. Hope he is feeling better soon. When people wake me I am a bear! ;)
What a bratty spoiled rotten kid you have. Keep babying him and you will have some big issues with him in a few yrs.
Excuse me Kan didn't your mom ever teach you that if you can't say anything nice, do not say anything at all!
Andrea, I'm sorry people are so rude! My Porter-man is the same way with getting woke up. He is sooooo much happier when he wakes up on his own. You are an awesome mom and your kiddos are very blessed to have you!
Kan..thats awesome. Let me give u a flu shot, cut out half your heart, take your oxygen sats down to 75 and blow 3 liters of oxygen up your nose.
Really? You are going to bully a 3year old? A very sick 3 year old. Pick on someone your own size. That comment is just ignorant.
HA! I just have to say ... I know I don't comment much, but I thought about this post yesterday as I tried to wake Ethan up from a THREE AND A HALF hour nap. Thankfully, he came out of it happy, but I was just waiting for the repercussions!
...or a sleeping girl! We have a 6yo hlhs in heart failure...not a transplant candidate...we are trusting God and tomorrow we are going to the zoo!
Came here from Jill's blog and the CD give away!.
Happy day to you all
