Stroller Advice PLEASE!!

Another stroller bit the dust today.

Owen is just getting too big for his strollers and we are getting ready to buy stroller number 4! I want something that has a higher weight capacity to grow with him. He is not walking well yet and add the oxygen tank into the mix, and he is pretty much tied down to his stroller when we are out.

What kind of strollers do you all use and what do you love about them?

I went out today and bought a BOB Revolution SE... weight limit 70lbs. Owen HATES it!! He is already too tall for it and his head pushes into the sun visor. He likes a tray or bar across him for "security." The new BOB's don't have trays for their 2011 strollers until the end of Summer.

I got some great ideas on my facebook post and I'd love to have more. We're going to an upscale baby store tomorrow to sit in them all and try them out. Money is no issue.. I just want something that will work long term. I like the idea of a jogging stroller, but will settle for an around town stroller too.

Help! :)

We have an InStep Jogging Stroller and we love it. It is a little big but with the newer ones all 3 wheels pop off easily and it folds up to the same size as your old stroller. They are really affordable and the max weight is 50lbs.

some ideas! because i LOOOOVE talking about strollers.
The Uppa Baby Vista, folds small, has a snack tray and bumper bar, big basket for oxygen tank, goes to 50 pounds, Seat can also face you which could be a perk?

the mountain buggy jogger is great as well, it gotes up to 77 lbs and has a bumper bar!

Phil and Ted's could also have a good stroller to fit your needs. but lower weight limit.

Tike tech all terrain x3

Hope that helps!

Have you thought of looking at med supply places? They have larger strollers with accomodations for the O2.

Hi my friend,
Remember last year we had the same question? I wanted something that would be able to hold M's big oxygen tank and suction machine (this is when she was only with trach and not on the vent).
Anyway, we ended up buying a peg perego vela stroller because it was lighter weight and had a high weight capacity - i think around 70 pounds. Also the basket was big enough to fit everything. Some of the strollers now have some funky baskets, so I was very particular about making sure this basket was easy to access in case we need to grab the o2 or suction immediately.
Anyway, I wish you luck stroller hunting! Hopefully you can find Mr. Owen exactly what he needs!
xo,
victoria

Definitely baby jogger. We have their City Elite and it's got a tall seat back. My 3 year old (born the same day as Owen!) Fits with TONS of room left. The canopy is super huge. It's the PERFECT stroller!

We have the Stingray Snugseat special needs stroller for my son, and we love it! It doesn't look like a wheelchair, but like a high end stroller. I can face him outward, or towards me in case I need to keep a closer eye on him. The stroller reclines, or tilts back. He can lay completely flat if he needs to. There is a backpack for the back that can hold a small oxygen tank, and/or additional medical equipment. It holds up to 88 pounds. Our insurance paid for the stroller and we had it in less than 3 weeks from being measured for it. It folds up small enough to fit in one side of the back of my van. Here you can see it. http://www.e-pages.dk/r82/55/44/
We love ours!

I love my Baby Trend Stand and sit stroller. It folds down easily and it has nice cup holder by the handle. My 3 1/2 year old rides in it all the time. I have taken it to Disneyland for the last 3 years. I am not sure what the weight limit is but last week my son (35lb) and my neice (35 lb) and my 3 month old (about 12 lb pluse carseat)all rode in it worked fine.

The Baby Jogger City Elite is an amazing stroller for kids with special needs. This was the stroller we eventually purchased for our daughter Kennedy. It held her suction machine and other misc. medical equipment, in addition, to having tons of space for her. She has different issues then your son, but the City Elite is huge - very spacious.

The seat is very wide with a high seat back. The seat lays completely flat (which was important to us because our daughter was unable to sit up). There is a foot rest that comes up to add extra leg space when in the laying position (and it also allows the underneath basket to be accessed from that point.) The canopy is amazing. Furthermore, it has the option of a bar or tray that can be purchased for it. I think it is a great option to look into for a child with special needs. The weight limit is 75lbs and folding it is a snap!

This is really heavy duty, but honestly if there's a chance he'll need it (even if only for long distances) in the future, it might be good to invest in a 'bigger' stroller. I loved this one for my daughter. It's light weight and can be used for several years. Good luck!
