I knew something was off when Dr. Stock took a second glance at Owen's EKG. We never have an issue with those crazy squiggles. Owen's heart is showing some signs of being in further distress and it's starting to reflect on his rhythms. Nothing significant, but it's presenting itself. We increased the rest of his oral meds and now he is really maxed out on oral meds. The good news is, he is starting to feel a bit better. He has a little more energy and is showing a little more interest in eating. He ate two bites of bread and one bite of yogurt for lunch... there's hope.
I'm starting to think that all the issues with oxygen and travel is happening for a reason. I just have a random feeling that Stanford might keep him rather than allowing him to come home. We don't know what the next four weeks will bring, but I am preparing myself to stay. If that is the circumstance, then I would need my car. So maybe, driving is a good thing so that I will have my car. Also, I can pack a huge load of things in the back of the 4-runner that I can't pack in a suitcase and throw on an airline. Once again, I will go with the flow of things and see how they work out. It seems to be working thus far!

Hey, maybe Owen can come to Luke's card. appointment in June to show him how fun it can be! My boy does NOT find the EKG stickers amusing :)
We continue to pray for your whole family, for all the details of your stanford trip to fall into place, and for Owen to stay strong at home! Looking at his pictures, you would never guess his heart is struggling. What's equally amazing is that his smile is so sweet you don't even see the oxygen or ng tubes!
Love to you guys in the hot desert! We're back down to the 50's today after three days in the 70's. boo!

Wow. As soon as I saw that photo I thought "What a big boy!" His face just looks really grown up.
I'm sorry the EKG didn't look great. I'm in the process of trying to learn about the squiggles - seeing as how, well I do ekg's all the time but have no idea how to interpret them.
I hope he's not sick enough that Stanford keeps him but I really hope he can get moving with getting himself a new heart.
HUGS!!
Way to think ahead and be prepared. You will know what you need to do. We continue to pray for you.
I can't believe he is so good at his visits. Ethan is very wary and hates anyone touching him. You will all continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
Hindsight is 20/20. I know that everything will work out perfectly for the trip. Trusting and praying for that for you guys!
Ky goes back to the cardiologist on May 6. This is a big appt.... echo and the whole works to make sure she is not having some kind of "wiring issue"... sigh. Its like you think everything is done and then there is always something else.
Hugs to you!
Hi Andrea, I marvel that you seem to think so clearly when it is such a worrisome time. I think you are getting that gut feeling you were talking about. Owen is sure cooperative. He's quite the "people person". We're plugging for you & always remember Owen and your family in our prayers. I used to check your blog weekly, but now it's every day. Thanks for taking the time to keep all of Owen's fan club posted. Siri
Yeah, it sounds like driving might not be such a bad idea, even though flying would be sooo much quicker! Wishing you the very best in the weeks to come!
I started to write a long reply- I just need to call you! Maybe tonight if not tomorrow for sure!
What a trooper! Can't believe he's so easy going with his appts.
Praying for everything to work out with your trip details. Owen is blessed to have such a wonderful mommy in his corner!
Great pics....can't get enough of that smile
Hey Andrea! I am sure that the people at Standford are getting you all set up... but in case you need family housing while you are staying there you may want to check into the Koret Family House. That is where I lived while Jacy was in the hospital. I am not even sure how far away it would be... but I wanted to share their information with you anyways.. http://www.familyhouseinc.org/
