Dance Showcase

Tonight was Kam's winter showcase for dance. All of the competition dances were showcased at the Art Center and gave the girls a chance to practice performing before their first competition this weekend. They have worked so hard and it shows. They looked great!   Kam and Gi are both in three dances this year.  The costumes are phenom, I'll post pictures after the competition this weekend.

We left Owen with Auntie Sussy to avoid the germs tonight.  He usually loves watching all the girls dance and totally missed out on watching all the Lil' Botz perform.  I am going to see if he can get in on a dance for recital in June.. Owen would be awesome on stage!

The little girls hung out with us while Kam did her own makeup and my Sis went to help Gigi get ready.  The girls wanted hair to match Kam's so I gave them little sock buns.  So adorable!!  Love these two.
Kam did fantastic and we are so proud of the dancer she is becoming.  Dance did not come natural to her at an early age.. she was stage shy at first.  She has come so far and now she is owning the stage.  She is confident and so beautiful!  It's also nice that she can do her own makeup and costume changes... SO nice!
Can't wait for competition season to begin... bring it on!!!

Life is Good

There was a power outage at the University on Friday, so Daddy got to come to gymnastics with us. Owen was thrilled to show off all his new skills!  He has come SO far in the past six months.  I love this photo of my favorite boys wrestling in the foam pit.
We have all finally kicked whatever that respiratory junk was.  I'm heading back to the gym today and it's going to hurt so good!  I have so much to blog about, but my house needs a good scrubbing, and I have a million reimbursements and appeals to submit to insurance.  Kam's bedroom makeover is in the works and dance competition season kicks off this weekend!  Owen is working hard at homeschool and with his therapists.  Life is really good.

Biopsy Results.

After a long night in the SSU, we finally headed back to our hotel at around 2am this morning.  We got a few hours of shut eye until it was time for breakfast, packing up and heading home.  We got the call with Owen's biopsy results of ZERO REJECTION!! We are thrilled!!  This was huge because we now get a three month break before Owen's next biopsy!  I think I am a little more excited than Owen is to be perfectly honest.

We will continue to do IVIG every other month at Phoenix Childrens if I can get insurance on board.  Traveling is fun, but so exhausting and not inexpensive. If his c1q antibodies continue to come back as zero, then we will talk about suspending his IVIG treatments in July.  It will have been continuous monthly IVIG treatments for 24 months at that point... what a celebration we will have if we can stop!  Owen tells everyone (very matter of factly).. "I am going to be doing IVIG the rest of my entire life."  It's heartbreaking that it's so 'normal' to him.

We got lost on our way to the airport, but made it in time to grab a bite to eat.  Not before we checked in at the ticket counter and were told that our flight was overbooked and we were bumped.  I was surprisingly calm about it and was super grateful when several nice passengers took the free voucher and volunteered their seats on the plane.  It all worked out in the end.. we even got the awesome row in the front with all the leg room.

We are home.  It feels so good to be home and we were only gone 36 hours.  Life is good!  We are so grateful for Owen's transplant team and all their expertise.. things couldn't be going any better for him and everyone is so pleased with his progress.

I'm off to pick up Kam at dance.  It's a late night... then sleep!!  Oh how wonderful sleep sounds.
