Stroller Advice PLEASE!!

Another stroller bit the dust today.

Owen is just getting too big for his strollers and we are getting ready to buy stroller number 4! I want something that has a higher weight capacity to grow with him. He is not walking well yet and add the oxygen tank into the mix, and he is pretty much tied down to his stroller when we are out.

What kind of strollers do you all use and what do you love about them?

I went out today and bought a BOB Revolution SE... weight limit 70lbs. Owen HATES it!! He is already too tall for it and his head pushes into the sun visor. He likes a tray or bar across him for "security." The new BOB's don't have trays for their 2011 strollers until the end of Summer.

I got some great ideas on my facebook post and I'd love to have more. We're going to an upscale baby store tomorrow to sit in them all and try them out. Money is no issue.. I just want something that will work long term. I like the idea of a jogging stroller, but will settle for an around town stroller too.

Help! :)

Bingo + MLH Picnic = Fun Weekend

Friday night was Bingo night at Kamryn's school. All proceeds went to Make A Wish and of course, we wanted to be a part of it! Kamryn's school does a big fundraiser for Make A Wish each year and they always raise a ton of money. I can't think of a more deserving organization! We took Kamryn's best friend, Elizabeth, with us. We had sodas, purple bingo cards, smarties (for markers) and it made for a great evening! None of us won any of the amazing door prizes from the dollar store.. bummer. I would have picked the hot pink jump rope.
Owen loves his cousin "Dodder" (Connor) and wanted him by his side all night. Connor is in student council and had to help out so Owen kept asking "Where Doddor go?" and "sit down Doddor!' In this picture he was hugging him and wouldn't let him go, turns out he was also wiping his licorice mouth all over his shirt. Thanks for being a great cousin and role model to Owen.

Today was the annual Mended Little Hearts of Phoenix picnic. It is always fun to meet new families and visit with our friends. The weather did not cooperate with us and it was a warm 10o degrees. I ran to walmart for some squirt bottle fans so the kids could stay somewhat cool. The ladies on the MLH committee did a great job and we had a pretty big turnout.

This group shot was being taken by a professional, but Kamryn took a snapshot for me. Our friends the Lihns (on the far left), Dr Stock (next to Stacey), our new heart friends the Sharps (next to Dr Stock), Owen and I (on the bottom left), the Blutrichs and Arrandas (in the back right), Dr Lindblade (far right back), the Vegas (middle right), and the Edges (cut off on the bottom right, bummer). I need to know everyone.. so sorry I missed the opportunity today. We were SO hot and my kids were needy.

We got a shot with Stacey, Emmy, Zoe (HLHS), Dr Stock (Owen's favorite Cardiologist, and doctor), Owen, and myself (not the best photo, but I had to have it for Owen)

Owen with his Gigi Monster. We picked up Gi and brought her along for the fun! My sister and Livvy also joined us but I don't have a single picture to show for it. Did I mention it was hot? That is my excuse. Kamryn was pretty miserable the entire time. She didn't want to eat anything and drank a soda, mix that with the heat and running around and she felt crummy. Next time we'll have to book a waterpark!! Really... who expects this kind of heat in April? Owen was happy to eat ice pops, and chill in his stroller. We ate with the Vegas (thanks for sharing the blanket), caught up with our friends and a little over an hour later, we headed home. We can't wait to see our friends at our next meeting/activity. Next weekend there is a big event for Hope Kids at Bumble Bee Ranch. We had so much fun last year and can't wait to go again. I've said it before, but we are so lucky to have a great heart community in Phoenix, it wasn't like this until recently and we are so grateful!

Dentist Check-Ups

Third times a charm... or is it? We had an early morning dentist appointment for cleanings and xrays. This was Owen's third visit and in the past, he wasn't having it.

We always watch Kamryn get her teeth cleaned and then when it's Owen's turn, he screams while the dentist peeks in his mouth. Today was different. Owen wanted to be a "bid boy!" Kamryn was also a big girl by going back all by herself with the hygienist to get her teeth cleaned without me, while I went with Owen in another room. I sat on the chair with him while he got all his xrays. He bit down on all the bite wings .. while crying.. and then saying "I no like that!" He let the dentist clean his teeth, a little, and checked out each little chomper.

No Cavities!!!

Both kids have great dental hygiene and neither one has a cavity to boot. Kamryn has never had a cavity so I didn't expect she would now. She does have a bunch of loose teeth, so when those fall out, we can talk braces again. With all of Owen's vomiting, anesthesia (10 times now) and lack of oral eating.. I was expecting a horrible report! It turns out his teeth look great and the only thing we saw was that his roots in the upper front teeth have some trauma to them. Maybe from intubation. All that means is that they might fall out earlier than the rest. We'll continue to brush twice daily and hopefully continue with our lucky dental streak. I, unlike the rest of my family, have awful teeth. I had 10 cavities filled last May and tomorrow I have to have a crown replaced because it's 13 years old and has an overhang. Awesome. Better me than the kids.
