Well Child Check-Ups

I just got back from taking my kids to their well child visit with Dr Robin.  It's always nice to go to the doctor for something other than "illness".

I'll start with Kamryn's visit.

Height: 5'4" (95%)
Weight: 106lbs (75%)

Kamryn grew a whole inch in six months!  We estimate her height to hit 5'8".. lucky girl! She is as healthy as can be and extremely fit.

Now onto Owen's visit.

Height: 39.5" (25%)
Weight: 32.5lbs (25%)

Owen is just hanging out at the same height/weight ratio for a while.  It's time to up his caloric intake to 1500cals.. we'll see if that will put some meat on his bones.  I'm adding more healthy fats (avocado, olive oil, nuts) to make up for the extra calories!

We talked about our failed attempts at potty training.  He is motivated to go and does fine with his business but he has never been able to drain his leaky faucet in the potty.  He is on a hefty dose of Viagra three times a day, plus two large doses of diuretics daily.  I might just be making excuses here, but I think he's a bit sensitive and it's hard to hold it to make it to the potty.  We'll keep trying every month and he'll get it when he's ready.  As long as he doesn't lose interest, I'm okay with taking time to figure it out.   On a positive note.. I just found out our insurance will cover the cost of diapers.. wahoo!!

We are getting ready for Owen's cath in exactly three weeks!!  I am totally anxious this time around as we will find out if all his increased medication and oxygen are actually helping his pressures.  I am putting aside my worries by focusing on his 4th birthday coming up and redecorating his bedroom. :)

I am so grateful for Kamryn's amazing health and Owen's developmental growth!!

I don't think you are making excuses at all. I was on lasix for awhile after Aly was born and I could barely make it to the bathroom in time when it finally "kicked in". ;) We've been trying to work on potty training too around our house, but no real success for us yet.
Keeping Owen in our thoughts and prayers for his upcoming cath!
