Owen is Back and This n' That

It only took six weeks, but Owen is back!! He had a heck of a time recovering from this surgery. I still remember one of the nurses in ICU coming in just a couple days post op and said "we need him up and walking!" Well, six weeks later, he's still not walking and I'm okay with it. He has been crawling up the stairs (as of Tue) and he is pulling to stand more often. He'll walk when he's good and ready!

The night time tossing while mumbling "leave me lone, and no ouchies" has stopped. Thank goodness. He is now sleeping restfully throughout the night. It also appears that his emotional side is back in check. The littlest thing would set him off and make him cry.. not a tantrum.. an emotional cry that tugged at my heart. I'm so glad that's over.

The best part of post op has been Owen's ability to communicate. He is talking so much!! We are still working with speech on his articulation issues, but he is doing so great. He's singing songs, counting to 10 (working on 20), knows many of his ABC's, and says the funniest things. I'm amazed at how fast he is catching up.

I just got off the phone with Stanford and she doesn't have exact dates yet for our next trip out. She had the MRI tentatively scheduled for Aug, but she's changing it to July for me. We have to wait another couple weeks for the cath lab docs to open up their schedules for July and then we'll get the Cath, MRI, and clinic visits scheduled for the same trip. If all goes well.. we'll be looking at an August Fontan. At the very least, we'll know what to expect post op.

Kamryn got her third quarter report card this week and she made Golden Scholar!! This was her first year in the gifted program and orchestra... we are so proud of her for being organized and responsible. There will be a special evening full of awards coming up in May to recognize all her hard work!

Tonight, I am going out for a girl's night. I haven't done this since I got pregnant with Owen and I totally deserve it! Owen is excited to have a special night with Daddy and Kam, while I have adult conversation with other moms that "get' what it's like to have a heart babe. So excited!

We have a fun weekend planned so I am off to tackle housework. Have a great weekend!
