Soaking Wet

I picked up this awesome sand and water table at Costco yesterday. After stopping at Walmart for sand, which turned out to be bright blue, we came home and set it up. Owen loves to splash in the water side and throw the sand out of the other.
After about 10 minutes of playing at the table, he scooted to the side of the house to see what the girls were up to. I had told them to wash the blue sand off their feet using the hose spicket, before coming inside. Owen scooted right onto the rocks (ouch) and he was in heaven!
The girls put the rug down for him to sit on and we let him play until he was BLUE!!!

Look at those blueberry lips! It wasn't exactly warm out, at 80 degrees, and the water must have been freezing. It was a small price to pay for those twenty minutes of bliss.
Big shout out...Owen stood up last night with NO HANDS!!!! I'll get him on video tonight. He's going to be walking in no time!

Animal Sounds

Do you ever wonder if what you're teaching your kids is going in one ear and out the other?? Owen and I were just doing a wooden animal puzzle.

Me: "Owen, what does the piggy say?"

Owen: "Mooooooo"

Me: "A cow says Mooooo... see the cow? What does the cow say?"

Owen: "Baaaaaaaa"

Me: "A sheep says Baaaaa... can you show me the sheep?"

Owen: points to the duck. "(sniffs like a pig)"

Me: "A piggy says oink-oink... is this a pig (pointing to the pig)"

Owen: "no."

Me: "Owen, I LOVE YOU!!!"

Then I asked him to pick up the puzzle pieces and he put the animals in their correct spots, almost. Silly boy.

Me: "I'm missing one puzzle piece, can you help me find it?"

Owen: "I don't know"

Me: "Owen, it's in your hand."

Easter 2010

We had a wonderful Easter Sunday this year! Following tradition around here... the Easter bunny was sneaky and hid the kids Easter baskets. He also must have known we were heading to the beach in a few weeks because he stocked the kids up with beach fun! While our Belgium Waffles were in the oven rising, we decided to dye Easter eggs. Owen was perfectly content to peel the shell off of one hard-boiled egg the entire time. He then pulled the yoke out and thought it was a ball. You can tell we don't eat many hard-boiled eggs around here.
Carson and Kamryn dyed the eggs while I cleaned up and got the house ready for my family to come over. We had some seriously delicious ham, potatoes, quinoa, strawberries and red velvet cake. This was also around the time that I logged onto the laptop for the first time today and saw that Mason was getting his new heart. I started crying and Kamryn thought I was crazy. Then we sat down and watched the video of Easter and the Resurrection. She had a million questions after that.
We decided to forgo our original plans to play at the park and went swimming instead! Only in Phoenix can you jump in a pool on Easter Sunday! I was the only adult to brave the water with the kids, but it was tons of fun. Owen's lips and nails were totally blue by the time we took him out... yikes!
I don't know what's up with this face, but I love it! I'm sure he was saying "Cheeeeeeeez!" Before we left, I gave the girls a five minute warning. That's when they decided to show off for the camera. Gigi always does this kung fu move when she jumps.
Kamryn likes to do cannonballs!
After their final, final warning that it was time to go.... they had to stall and jump together.
It was a beautiful Easter! We were surrounded by family, love, HOPE, joy, and gratefulness!
