SWINGING

There is a great little park just off the parking lot to Kamryn's school. Now that it's cooling down, I take Owen about 30 minutes early and let him swing. He LOVES it!!!
Who knew swinging could be so much fun?? He giggles and laughs and says "winnnnnng."

I use the grocery cart cover in the swing after scrubbing it down with clorox wipes and proceed to slather him down with hand sanitizer afterwards.... I think I might be passing on my germ phobia to him.

Keratosis Pilaris

The diagnosis for the bumps invading Owen's skin?? Keratosis Pilaris. Also known as "chicken skin". I am not supposed to scrub it too hard, pick at it or scratch it. Good to know. Do parents actually do that? I am to leave it alone and it may, or may not, go away on it's own. It looks like "chicken skin" is here to stay!

Unless, of course, it's not Keratosis Pilaris and it IS an allergic reaction of some sort? It could be a reaction to one of his nine medicines... but figuring that out is near impossible. I am switching up his body wash from cheap-o Target brand to something a little more gentle. Then I'll grab another jumbo pack of Hydrocordisone cream at Costco and start slathering him up after his baths. Maybe we'll find a way to cure the bumps ourselves.

After we figured that little mystery out, we had to decide which immunizations to give. Polio? MMR? Hep B? Flu Vaccine? Rotovirus? The options are endless! There are so many to catch up on.

Poor Owen got four pokes in the thighs. :( Good thing Kamryn came along so that she could get surprised with a flu shot of her own! She was okay with her shot, but couldn't bear to watch Owen get his shots.

Glad that's out of the way for another four weeks.

Bumps and more

We had a visit with Dr Silber (GI DOC) today. Owen continues to lose weight. It's a mystery. His height is about the same. His head?? His head continues to grow and remains off the charts. We are so proud of that big, beautiful head!

I have continued to increase his calories and volume of formula to no avail. I started the transfer to pediasure today. I'm doing half formula and half pediasure and he's tolerating it just fine.

Soon, he will be on strictly Pediasure, 30 cal per ounce. I will then wean him off the night drip. There will be a full night of sleep in my future. Soon. Very soon.

Tomorrow Owen has a whole new bunch of immunizations. He's also got bumps all over his arms and face. Eczema perhaps? I'm sure it's nothing major, but I have no idea what to use to get rid of it.

His little forehead and cheeks have always had bumps and flareups, but I blamed it on all the tape. Now that he has the little dots, I realize it's not from the tape.
We have an appointment with Dr Laks (pediatrician) tomorrow, before the immunizations to get some input on the bumps. I can handle all this cardiac stuff, just don't give me bumps, I don't know what to do with bumps.
If anyone knows of a magic potion to get rid of bumps... let me know!

Enough of bump talk... until tomorrow.

Kamryn has only two and half days of school left until FALL BREAK!! Then she'll miss an entire week of school while we're in California. Not a bad deal to go to school for two weeks in the month of October! Then she has winter break off school for two weeks in December and January. It's tough being a fourth grader.

Time to cook dinner, do the dishes, rotate the laundry, scrub the kids in the tub, read stories, and then bedtime. Night.
