San Diego Spring Break!!

Spring Break 2015 came and went.. so sad it's over. We woke up early Thursday morning and loaded up for a 5 hour road trip to San Diego.
We were so excited to finally have a family vacation with my parents, Sister and all the cousins.  We all made it to the hotel on the beach before sundown. This is a lot of cuteness in one photo! We walked out onto the boardwalk and let the kids get their feet in the sand.

We grabbed a few fish tacos and were in bed by 9!

The next morning we woke up and walked along the boardwalk looking for breakfast.  We decided to try Truckstop and Owen surprised us all by ordering Chicken and Waffles!  What??  Who is this kid?  The food was delish! We headed to our hotel and made our way to the sand.

This little cutie was already covered in mud and sand by the time we made out way down to the beach.
Owen loves to be buried in the muddy sand... he is outnumbered by girls.  Next year Logan will be right there with the rest of them!

It was so fun having my Mom and Pop there too!  We had such a great time.

Logan was happy to stay under the beach umbrella in the shade and was not a fan of that ocean breeze.  He held his breath each time a big breeze would blow through.  Seriously though.. how cute is his rash guard and board shorts?!
Owen is such a beach bum and could stay out there all day... just like his mama.
Me in my happy place... baby in my arms.. snuggling under the beach umbrella.. soaking it all in.
Logan was much happier when we went back to our room.
We had a few hours to rest up before it was time to head to Old Town San Diego for a family dinner at Old Town Mexican Café.
After dinner, we all headed up the hill to the Mormon Battalion.  The kids had a really good time and our Sister Missionary made it especially fun.
Owen got picked to model the Battalion gear...
After the presentation and tour, we headed out to pan for gold.
I love how close my kids are to all their cousins... I know I say that all the time.  It makes me happy that they get to grow up together and make so many memories.
We had a great day but were so ready for bed.  Logan even slept five hours straight in his pack n play, which was a first!  More tomorrow...

The Pillbox

It is officially Spring Break around here and we have much needed family time planned. This last few weeks has been busy...so busy.

This happened! After 7 years of drawing up meds into syringes, up to 30 a day, sometimes 4x a day...Owen is officially switched over to pills! Purchasing a pillbox was the highlight of my week! I just give him his handful of pills (six pills) twice a day and he takes them like a champ!  He has asked a couple times when he is done taking pills...it hasn't  sunk in that these six pills are never, ever, going away.
Owen was home from school a good chunk of last week with exhaustion and unexplained fevers.   He is over it and never did show a single symptom.  I was a fantastic advocate for  him during his IEP meeting last week.  Ill share more as soon as I  have 100% approval from the district, but this boy will succeed despite any obstacles.  Like missing a million days of school due to illness.
Owen had his xrays and dental cleaning last week.  No cavities and his teeth look great!  Of course he comes to his dentist appointment chomping down on a ring pop.   Only Owen.

Kam rocked her midterms with all A's going into the final semester of her freshman year.  She had an orchestra concert last week and I  think we are both looking forward to this being her last year of violin.  We are lucky to be a part of such a great school with a phenomenol Music program, but Kam is ready to pack her violin away and move on.

We will be off the grid for a few days and I am looking forward to it.  Lots of family time and fun!  Happy Spring!

Adios Sickies and VIDEOS!! :)

I am happy to say that RSV has been defeated, but didn't go out without a fight.  With the exception of myself, everyone in our home got a taste of the beastly virus.  Logan took the biggest hit and after three pediatrician appointments, he is over it!  Bring on Summer.. we are over the sickies.  With everyone being sick last week, the whole of the week was spent with me washing sheets, disinfecting every surface and the kids spending time in bed.  I'm happy to report that this week has been much more eventful.

Each morning I get to wake up to these smiling faces.  This is our 6am.  Kam is getting ready for school, Owen is stalling getting ready for school, and Logan is happy to have a captive audience.  I usually take the opportunity to sneak into the shower and get ready for the day.
Since this little guy is feeling better... we have been getting many more smiles from Mr Grumpy.
Owen is back at gymnastics for Physical Therapy and loves it.  We have the gym to ourselves and Owen is progressing so quickly!  His favorites are the foam pit and trampolines.  He loves to play hide/seek with Michelle.. I'm sure she doesn't love being buried under the dusty foam blocks.

Another huge milestone this week for Mr Owen.  We switched his most important anti rejection med to capsuls.  With frequent labs, his numbers have been all over the place and we need those levels in therapeutic range or else we risk rejection to his heart or kidney damage.  Switching to capsuls has been more than successful and we got a perfect lab results this week!!!  I am so thrilled that I switched all of his other meds over to pills.  We will get those this week!!  Drawing up liquid meds, several times a day, for the past 7 years and we finally graduated to pills.  This is the best news all month!
Kam has had eye drama that started when we went for her routine exam and found cornea damage.  We took her to a cornea specialist who said that she had dry eye.  He plugged her tear duct and we went back for a follow up appointment where we were told it was improved.  So back to the eye doc yesterday to find out it's not improved and we are back to square one.  Ugh.
This weekend we are taking it easy.  I'm trying to get Logan on a sleep schedule and both kids are catching up on homework. We have one week until Spring Break and a much needed trip to the ocean!!
I forgot to upload the videos from Kam's dance concerts last week.  The video cut off but it's something.  She is in the front left in the first video and front right in the second.
