Winter Break

We have had the best winter break ever!! Kamryn had an extended winter break this year, as she only attended three days of school in December! The rest of the time was Disney World, and then winter break. We have been spoiled having her around so much!!

We have been super busy playing video games.
Chilling around the house in our cozy sweats.. doing absolutely nothing with our time.

You probably already read in my last posts, but Kamryn turned TWELVE on the third!!  We celebrated with my family on New Years and it was a great time!  Look at all those candles.. right next to the oxygen.. we should have thought that out better.
Since Daddy had the 2nd off work for the New Year, we went to a local tattoo shop to get Kam's ears pierced (just the lobe).  Turns out they can't pierce ears until they are 14.. "it's the law!"  So.. I called around to pediatricians and can't find one that pierces ears.  Looks like we might be visiting a store in the mall, which I was trying to avoid, due to possible inexperience of the "Piercers" there.

After our failed attempt at ear piercing, we took Kam out to lunch for BBQ and then a quick shopping spree for some new clothes.

Kam's other big surprise for her birthday, was a bedroom makeover!!  We are almost done and I will dedicate an entire post for that soon.  We are waiting on one mirror to arrive and then I will post pictures.  Her new room is perfect for her!!  I love it so much, I wish it was mine!!

Her last birthday celebration will be later this month when she has a small sleepover party with friends. We like to keep parties small around here, but we party all month.  When her birthday festivities are over, Owen's begin!!

Speaking of Owen.. the big boy is potty training (again!).  He started going potty a few months ago, but just couldn't go pee in the potty.  He is on an insane amount of Lasix (diuretics) twice daily, so he is a leaky faucet.  This is a known obstacle, but I am trying to overcome it.  I gave him a few months, we got past his trip, and now we are trying again.  He can do his other business in the potty just fine.. it's just the leaky faucet that doesn't ever make it.  Today has been a bust so far, but we keep setting the timer every fifteen minutes in hopes that we'll have a little success!!

I had him sit on the potty for about 30 min earlier to see if he could go while playing.  That didn't work. ;)  Ha.
While we are stuck at home and trapped by the timer and a toilet, Kamryn is off to her first day back to school!!  We love her so much and miss her.  She was a bit late as we ran some errands and attempted to drop off her boundary exception form at her Junior High of choice.  Junior High.. yikes!!  She is so excited to try out Volleyball team, Dance Team, and Orchestra next year!!  She is going to love it so much!  We just have to get through the last two quarters of Elementary.
Our new year has started perfectly.  We are relaxed, my house is getting organized, the kids' bedrooms are getting full makeovers.  The closets and toys are getting purged.  We have a month full of well doctor checkups, birthday parties and getting back to reality!!

Fiesta Bowl Parade

On New Years Eve, the girls performed in the Fiesta Bowl Parade. A Disney rep had contacted the dance studio and asked invited the dance team to perform in the parade to help promote Disney on Ice: Toy Story 3! They gave them Disney on Ice tees to wear, but they didn't get their Jesse hats in time (bummer). The girls had a few extra practices to perfect the 'HoeDown Throwdown' by Miley Cyrus and they looked great!!

We had to arrive at the parade at 8am where they performed for our local ABC news station. They then kicked off the parade! Disney didn't have a float or characters, just a small banner that said "Disney on Ice". The whole parade was a major letdown.. the Fiesta Bowl Parade used to be way cool! Anyway.. the marching bands were a hit and the girls were able to dance once or twice down the parade route before they had to just do hand motions and walk. I don't know if we would say "yes!" to that again, but it was definetly an experience.
We were at the parade route a couple hours before it even began, so Owen stayed busy with his iPad.
Livvy was a ham as always and marched around the street with her $3 "tuba", as Owen kept calling them.

Owen could not figure out to blow his "tuba", but then Livvy showed him how to shove the entire tip in his mouth and then it worked.  He was still totally blue after a few blows, but he had fun!

Kamryn and Gigi were tired and hot after their 3 mile trip down the parade route.  Kamryn was starving.. Gigi is never hungry... so we peaced out before the parade ended and went home for lunch.

I think the girls had a good time, but they were just tired.  They really enjoy wearing their dance costumes and doing more advanced stuff.  They have a three hour practice this weekend to get ready for the upcoming basketball season!!  They are performing for the Globetrotters, Phx Suns, and many High School half time shows.. so fun!!
