Butt-Scoot -- Caught on Video

I finally caught Owen butt-scooting around on video! He may be out of breath, he may stop to take breaks, but after 16 months he's finally moving!

Owen hit another HUGE milestone today... he can roll over from his back to his stomach and push himself up to a SIT! He only did it twice and was completely winded afterwards, but HE DID IT!!!

That video MADE my day! It's such a perfect picture of these heart kiddo's. They persevere and never give up! Go, Owen, go!

I loved at the end when he got the ball, then kind of looked backwards like, "Now who's going to help me get back THERE?"

Hooray for Owen! He needs that cheer again! I am a reader but first time commentor (don't you LOVE us?). I am so impressed with his changes since the medication changes. Praying for his heart (and yours!) as your days continue to unfold. He has me all wrapped up. Thanks for sharing your world with us. I have family in Phoenix and I do NOT know how you guys can live there in the summer. Winter, yes. Summer? NO WAY! Jennifer in Southeast, NC (you know, the beach!)

Oh, I love me some Owen! He is doing great! Josh totally reminded me of a puppy dog when he was crawling because he'd always get out of breath & panty...I thought it was the cutest (a little sad, but mostly cute)!

GREAT video! Way to go Owen - that is quite the accomplishment. He is so stinkin' adorable Andrea.

I honestly have not been on the computer for the past month and I am soooo incredibly behind on your blog. Forgive me if I don't read them all :)

IF HE ONLY KNEW HOW MUCH ENERGY HE WOULD SAVE BY CRAWLING.
Time for Kamryn and her pals to crawl around for a day and show him the ropes! ;)

Well done Owen! You are a star! My little boy Charlie is five, and he has HLHS too. He gets out of breath sometimes too - but it doesn't stop him doing anything either! We've been reading your blog for a while now, but I can't remember if we've commented before! Feel free to check out Charlie's blog if you like - it's at http://charlieturner.blogspot.com
Well done Owen - we think you're fab! With love from across the pond xxx

That is the cutest thing ever. Call me tender (heart mom's can be like that I guess), but I actually got a little choked up watching that videol. I think it just has to do with the strong spirits of these little ones. Keep up the great work!

OMGoodness! He's adorable! Just found your blog through your post on The Blog Frog. That is exactly the way my daughter, Lily used to get around, "butt scooting." I know other kids have done it, but Lily and Owen are the only two I've ever seen. Lily got really fast at it too, like REALLY fast! Now, I guess my husband's cousin (who was born with spina bifida more than 30 years ago) also scooted around on her bottom like that, and her mom had her sit in a metal pie plate, so it was easier for her to get around on the carpet.

Anyway, brings back so many memories....

So adorable! At 14 months our Owen is sitting, but still can't transition from lying down to sitting up. What a great milestone for your Owen to hit!
